Brighton Swing Choir were overjoyed to be chosen to record the soundtrack to the 2021 Guinness Christmas TV advert. Not only did we get to record in a professional recording studio in London, but we also performed at the launch at The Lock Tavern. It was a fantastic experience! Here’s the advert, and the full song.
What a storming end to our Autumn term with performances at the Brighton Museum, Ragroof Tea Dance and supporting the BHT in their Christmas street collection, which raised over £5000 for BHT’s First Base Day Centre!
We had some impromptu performances on our Christmas night out, taking in The Bath Arms (where we performed behind the bar!), The Font, The Eagle (our home turf!) and the streets of Brighton as well as singing for our supper at La Choza. This sort of feeling you can’t buy…! Head to our facebook page to see photos and videos.
We’re back for the new term on Monday 8th January. Can’t wait!
The summer holidays are nearly over, but that means our autumn term is nearly here! Choir starts back on Monday 4th September and we can’t wait to get back in the swing of things! New songs and revising Christmas numbers from last year will be keeping us busy. We will be supporting BHT again this year on Saturday 16th December, so keep the date free!
We’re into the last half term of the academic year and we’re busy learning new songs: “T’ain’t what you do (it’s the way that you do it)” and “When you’re Smiling” are keeping us busy. Listen to this great version by Louis Armstrong
And for all you lindy hoppers out there, the inspiration for our arrangement of the “shim sham” song
We are delighted to have been asked to perform as part of Brighton Housing Trust’s Big Christmas Collection. We will be singing at around 4pm in the Atrium of Churchill Square shopping centre. Pop along and support us for this great cause, and please throw something in the collection buckets if you can!
Following our performance, we are having our choir Christmas social. Expect some choir flash mobbing around the lanes…!
